That's Officer Rod Farva to you, mister!
Seems a little luck finally came my way. I'm on the list for a local PD north of town. Their academy starts in June. Just need to clear the medical hurdle and pee in a cup and I'm all set.
This comes one year, two months and 4 days to the day that I started down the road to a law enforcement career.
It is a nice department with a good, strong staff and chain of command. All equipment is provided short of a duty weapon and my boots. Guess I have to buy a new gun now. Great benefits and I don't mind working in the piney woods of east Texas. The shade'll do me some good.
I'll have to quit the current academy I'm in. Oh, darn! Not like I'm gonna be missed there at all.
What really puts the cherry on top of this is that I'll now be getting a better paycheck. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter and brighter. It'll be nice to be a provider for my family again.
